Cooperation with Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT), China

Following the signature at the Rectory of the University of Lisbon (ULisboa) of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between this University and the Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT), the College of Chemistry of the ULisboa (CQUL) was invited by the BUCT to visit this Chinese University. The visit was held on December 2nd - 9th, 2018, aiming to establish future cooperation under the scope of the signed MOU, being currently underway the establishment of protocols with some Schools of the ULisboa and the BUCT.

The Portuguese delegation was comprised by: Armando Pombeiro (President of CQUL), Mário Nuno Berberan Santos (President of CQUL Division of Materials and President of CQFM-IST), Amélia Rauter (Member of CQUL Executive Committee for Pedagogical Affairs and President of DQB-FCUL), Jorge Correia (Member of Energy and Environment Division) and José Canongia Lopes (representing DEQ-IST).

During this visit, the BUCT invited Portuguese students (both under- and post-graduated) of the ULisboa to attend a Summer Camp, entitled “BUCT The Belt and Road Cultural Exchange Camp”, to take place between 8th and 26th of July 2019, being all local expenses (accommodation, meals and transports in China) covered by the Chinese University. The program includes a scientific component, a basic course on Mandarin and a rich cultural program (visit to the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, etc).

The initiative is being coordinated by the CQUL which will select the candidates.
