Unique in Portugal, the degree in General Studies was created to allow a combination of Arts, Humanities and Sciences. In its current version, its students can attend courses in eleven schools at ULisboa: Faculty of Architecture (FAUL), Faculty of Fine Arts (FBAUL), Faculty of Science (FCUL), Faculty of Law (FDUL), Faculty of arts and humanities (FLUL), Faculty of Human Motricity (FMHUL), Faculty of Psychology (FPUL), Higher Institute of Agronomy (ISA), Higher Institute of Social and Political Sciences (ISCP), Higher Institute of Economics and Management (ISEG) and Higher Institute Technician (IST). With the help of a tutor, students build an entirely free personalized course, taking into account the course's study plan, or they can guide the choice for areas of concentration in the Majors and Minors offered.

Objectives 

This cycle of studies is unique in Portugal and gathers disciplines of the various schools, combining a Core limited to various disciplines that the student chooses, according to his/her interests. This degree allows a unique combination of Arts, Sciences and Humanities, preparing students to continue their studies in a specialized area or to enter the labor market.

Career prospects 
The degree in General Studies offers a complete and varied training that responds very flexibly to a rapidly changing job market, where professions constantly appear and disappear and where the ability to have ideas and think outside the box is stimulated. Former students our work today in activities as diverse as telecommunications, the arts, information and communication, or education and research. Many of the graduates in General Studies continue to study. General Studies gives access to the Master's and Doctoral courses offered by the eight participating Schools (from Economics to Biology, and from Literature to Mathematics).
